The government of Bihar has started a historic program that will give all household customers in the state 125 units of free power each month. Who will get the benefit of this scheme?
- All Urban and Rural users in Bihar: Any home that has a valid domestic power connection from SBPDCL (South Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited) or NBPDCL (North Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited) can apply.
- Main Meter Holders: The benefit is only available to the main (primary) meter of a home. The plan is connected to the account of the person who signed up for it.
- Urban and rural consumers: The plan works the same for all homeowners in the state, no matter where they live.
- Consumers must pay off any outstanding bills and update their meter/account information in order to keep getting the benefit.

Who Can’t Get Benefit?
- Sub-Meter Consumers: Tenants or people who share electricity from the main connection through a sub-meter will not get the benefit individually.
- Commercial or Industrial Users: This plan does not cover connections that are not for homes, businesses, industries, or farms.
- More than one connection in the same house: If a family owns more than one domestic meter, the benefit may only apply to one of them, but this needs to be checked.
- Connections that are not registered: People who use electrical connections that are not registered or permitted cannot get the benefit of Mukhya Mantri Vidyut Upbhokta Sahayata Yojana.
